Port Services awarded with prestigious health and safety certification standard
Offshore logistics specialist Port Services Group has achieved a prestigious health and safety certification standard following a detailed assessment of its operation.
The certification confirms that Port Services now meets the exacting requirements of operating an Occupational Health and Safety Management System that complies with the 18001:2007 standard.
It follows a comprehensive year-long independent assessment of all areas of the business by the British Standards Institute that included transport, heavy lifting and offshore logistics support to the gas, oil and cargo industries.
According to Operations Director Paul Clark, the certification underlines Port Services’ commitment to best practice procedures at its three main operational bases in Aberdeen, Invergordon and Scrabster.
“We are delighted to have achieved this much sought after standard. This new recognition is all part of our policy to continually improve the business so as to maintain our leading position as an offshore logistical services provider.”
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Manager, Derek Johnstone, who helped to drive the programme through, said the certification had been achieved through hard work, commitment and support from the management team and operational staff.
“This is an ongoing process as it will take huge efforts to maintain this certification and further build upon Port Services health and safety performance in the future,” he said.
